My Sister's Keeper
I recently watched the movie and read the book My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. I highly recommend this book and movie! Both are tearjerkers, I'm not gonna lie. But the tears are worth every moment because I think they both leave you with a wonderful perspective on life and death.
I'm not going to spoil the story for those of you that have not read or seen the book/movie. But the moral of the story is that death is inevitable and tragic. It happens and it is a force that cannot be stopped. We'll never understand it either. But life goes on and you have to remember those you have lost for all the happiness and joy they brought into your world. Sometimes you have to let go and live your life.
I know, easier said than done. But I firmly believe that our loved ones we have lost would never want to see us sad and suffering. They would want us to live a life full of happiness, laughs and smiles. The pain and hurt will probably never stop. But at least we can learn to live with it and turn that energy into something positive.
My Sister's Keeper was very inspiring. I hope you all get a chance to read it or at least watch the movie. Check out Jason Patric! Still a hottie after all these years! CheeeeeeeOWWWWWWW!!! ahaha

An excerpt that fits me from The Sisiterhood
"Where are we going?" Tibby asked flatly.
"It's a surprise. It'll be fun. Come on!"
...
"I don't want a surprise. I don't want to have fun."
"That's exactly why you need some."
....
"I still don't want to go."
"We love you too much to let you fester in your room for the rest of the summer."
"Maybe I like to fester," Tibby said.
"But festering... doesn't like you."

Pink Spandex!
Oh baby, oh baby! I do believe we are going to get our pink spandex scene in True Blood!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Thank GOD!
Ausiello says:
"Alexander Skarsgard's Nordic vamp has an extremely homoerotic encounter with a character who shall remain nameless."
The comment is in reference to an orgy scene that happens in the show this season. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! Loving it.
Here is the whole Ask Ausiello article. Enjoy!

Sookie Stackhouse Series

I've been thinking about where the next book in the series can go and this is what I've come up with.
Eric talks about the compulsion/bond to do what the maker says... even when you desperately want to get away. So, Eric is a sheriff of backwater Louisiana and he's said that he has no interest in becoming a King. It seems to me like he is trying not to draw too much attention to himself- like he doesn't want to make himself too powerful...maybe too useful to his nasty maker? I think his maker is still out there and Eric doesn't want to become an instrument again. And with Bill's new program it would be so easy for a maker to check up on one of his children!... another reason for Eric to dislike Bill.
Sookie will just have to kill off this maker too. But what about the bond she shares with Eric? Will she also feel the compulsion to do as the maker says through Eric? This would definitely be useful to an old vampire- having Eric AND Sookie doing his will. He will want to strengthen that bond between Eric and Sookie...maybe make her another Renfield.
This also explains why Eric is so good to his followers and why he cried over Clancy's death. Eric wants to be a strong and just leader, unlike his maker. It's like a Daddy complex. My dad didn't love me so I'll do one better and love my children.
Come on Kari, what are your theories?

Coming in First
"They'll always come first... I want to be first. I know that's selfish, and maybe unattainable, and maybe shallow. But I just want to come first with someone. If that's wrong of me, so be it. I'll be wrong."
This is an excerpt from one of the Sookie Stackhouse books.
I can think this way. Of the few places where I can be first without feeling guilty, this is an important one. I could not live with being second to: a job, a hobby, other family/friends, a religion, a country, a cause. And really, this may be shallow and selfish, but I am not the kind of person who could settle so benignly for second place. I can't be the pillar without knowing that I have an equally supportive pillar for me.
I wonder what that says about me. And I can't even say with conviction that I rightly know how it would feel to think differently. It's too much a part of me.
So, any thoughts and personal insight?

First Book!
'Ello, 'Ello!
So I have decided to start reading The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and I wanted to extend the opportunity to anyone with time to read the book with me. So if any of you are interested let me know! We can discuss and finally get this book club started! And if you've already read the book, feel free to discuss it!
Anyone who is familiar with the book/movie, which character is your favorite? Why? Who do you most identify with?
